The old way and the better way

Print it, sign it, scan it, email it — most people have done this more than once. You can skip all of it. Signing a PDF on screen takes a minute and the result looks like a normal signed page.

Step by step

  • Open the Fill & Sign tool and add your PDF.
  • Complete any form fields — text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons and dropdowns are supported.
  • Draw your signature with a mouse, trackpad or finger.
  • Click on the page where it belongs, then drag to move it or use the corner handle to resize it.
  • Download the signed PDF.

Tips for a signature that looks right

Draw slowly and a little larger than you think you need; you can shrink it afterwards. Place it on the signature line rather than above it. If it looks wobbly, clear it and draw again — it only takes a few seconds.

Is a drawn signature valid?

Rules vary by country and by document. For many everyday agreements a typed or drawn signature is accepted, but some documents require certified digital signatures or witnessing. If you're unsure, ask the person or organisation who sent it what they accept.

When the PDF isn't a fillable form

Some PDFs are just flat pages with no form fields. You can still add text anywhere with the Edit PDF tool, or turn a flat form into a fillable one using Create a fillable form.
